Hi Shannon,

I have informed Cynthia of your most recent post. Appreciate your patience in awaiting her response.

Hi Shannon,
So you don’t have the CBS C699T ++ SNP. I assume you must have it as heterozygous, as you mentioned the low protein suggestions from Yasko’s work. Many in lower ammonia levels using Sodium Potassium Butyrate.
You biggest issues, wrt your symptoms, is related to GI health. The FUT2 ++ SNPs, tip you into auto-immune. You’ll want to aggressively address GI. I’ll include a basic protocol in the form of an am smoothie, below.
As far as methylation, you may want to consider TMG (due to BHMT SNPs), and pulsed lithium orotate, 2 to 3 times per week (due to TCN SNPs). At some point, you can pulse Vit B12 a few times per week.

Here is a smoothie.

– Basic smoothie recipe: You can adjust/replace the fruits and liquids
o 4-5 oz coconut milk
o A few oz water
o ½-3/4 cup frozen blueberries

– GastroThera (1/2 scoop in smoothie; titrate up to 1 scoop) Addresses low SCFA; prebiotics and GI mucosal support. (Please use BiotaGen, instead, if you have an allergy to shell fish)

– PhytoGanix – 1 scoop in smoothie. This will boost anti-oxidants and add to the smoothie flavor.

Pure Paleo Protein, vanilla
http://www.professionalsupplementcenter.com/Designs-for-Health-PurePaleo-Protein-Natural-Vanilla.htm?

Micellized Vit D (can order from ProThera); very important for GI mucosal health.

With food (1 per day)
– Ther-biotic Complete capsules (probiotic).

NOTE: To order from ProThera, you’ll need to use Authorization Code: I94

Cynthia-
Thank you so kindly for the feedback. This really helps and I look forward to adding this protocol to my routine.

Hello,

I am a customer of yours and have uploaded my report. I was also interested in Pure Genomics website by Pure Encapsulations as I have an account with them also. I have found an error and it appears to be on your website so you might want to correct it. Please see my question to Pure Genomics and then their reply below. I also found another error, but did not address this one with them and cannot remember which SNP it was but can go and find if again if you are interested. Please let me know about this and if my understanding of this is all wrong.

My question to them:

Name: Debbie Vail
Email: debbie@created4youfoods.com
Phone: 3347503276
Message: Concerning the 8 specific genes: The MTR gene with the A2756G SNP, I was wondering if maybe you or else the website MTHFRsupport.com may have it listed wrong. I have done the 23andme test and uploaded my info at MTHFRsupport.com and they have a search bar that allows you to search for a particular gene. I cannot find the A2756G SNP on their site but the one they have is A2576G. Could it be possible that this number is in error and the 5 and 7 just got transposed by either you or them? Thanks.

Their reply

Thanks for your inquiry. The correct notation for this SNP is A2756G. This appears to be a typographical error on the site you mention. For clarity, use the RS number is rs1805087 for google and medline searches – you will see the correct notation in all search results.

Kind Regards,

Kelly

Hi, I am wondering if there is a direct link of OCD being caused due to MTHFR issues. I have seen it mentioned briefly in a few articles. So does someone that has OCD tend to and MTHFR mutation? Could someone explain the link or even post some articles that i can go to that talks directly about OCD caused from the mutation please? Thank you. I love this website and the facebook page. Absolutely great!

Hi harpsickle,

Genetics may play a role but many other factors can contribute to OCD. Working with a practitioner experienced in methylation and nutrigenomics and having one’s 23andMe data interpreted may lead to a decrease or alleviation of their symptoms.
Such practitioners can be found here http://mthfrsupport.com/find-a-practitioner/.

This article http://mthfr.net/is-mthfr-related-to-x-condition-x-disease-x-symptom-x-syndrome/2015/06/10/ written by Dr Ben Lynch may be helpful and provide a better understanding of how MTHFR is associated with other disorders etc.

Dr Jess Armine is knowledgeable about MTHFR, Neurotransmitters and OCD and has a Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/methylationsupport/?fref=ts so may be a good point of contact for you. You can also post questions there.

Compound MTHFR and no practicioner in the area!

Hi! I am from Northern Europe and unfortunately haven’t found a specialist who could consult me on MTHFR issues. I have visited 4 doctors in recent months, none of whom thinks my miscarriages were connected to my compound MTHFR.

I am trying to search for another practicioner – be it gynecologist, geneticist or naturopath, but I don’t have high hopes to find anyone who has really any experience with this. It is sad to see that this deficiency is so little known about in so developed region as in Europe. In my country I cannot event buy methylfolate, just folic acid.

Are there any practicioners who could consult me over e-mail or phone? I am just looking for initial dosages of methylfolate and other vitamins + whether to take baby aspirin and heparin once I get pregnant again.

Thanks and good luck with raising awareness on MTHFR!

Hi David,

Thank you I have access to the screen shot now and will share with one of the practitioners who does interpretations. Your patience in awaiting a response
is appreciated. The practitioners respond voluntarily and have their own practices and other commitments so may not be able to respond immediately but do their best.

Any particular part of the COMT SNPs? Because there are about 3 pages of them.

Hi Nick,
Reed means two risk alleles, yellow means one risk allele, and green is the expected alleles. In the case of COMT H68H, and V158M, they are down regulations slow down breakdown of catecholamines. If MAOB includes risk alleles, it further slows down COMT enzymatic activity. There are 2 drawing associated with you Variant Report that show COMT. Cynthia

So a single ‘+’ means the same as a ‘+/+’?
